Over the past 40 years, as I have worked in and studied congregations and church agencies, I have noticed three main barriers to these organizations achieving their desired service to Christ:

  • people lack confidence in their mission
  • purpose is confused and conflicted
  • processes are complicated and contradictory

Most problems in most church organizations stem from dysfunctions and disease in the passion people bring to their purpose through their processes for working together.

GrowingChurches.Org works with leaders, individually and collectively, to remove those barriers to the achievement of your full potential in Christ. Here's the approach in brief:

  • People are the source of the church's passion. It is primarily through people that God has chosen to work in this world. It is in people that Christ has chosen to dwell. It is people that the Holy Spirit inspires with the passion of the Gospel. People - through the careful and prayerful stewardship of their wisdom, their enthusiasm, their strength, and, above all, their faith - are the agents of God and the ambassadors of Christ in this world.
  • Purpose determines the direction in which the people's passion will flow. Without clear purpose, grounded in the Word of God, congregations and church agencies will defuse their energies and effectiveness. Clarity of purpose arises from listening to what people value passionately about the church and its Gospel as they gather around God's Word in worship, fellowship, and service. This purpose gives meaning, belonging, and significance to their lives and work.
  • Processes that facilitate the alignment of God's gifts enable people to express their passion effectively in the service of Christ. Good processes enable that passion to flow into the areas of mission and ministry that the Spirit is constantly opening up for us.
