In New World, you will be looking to harvest resources, craft items, get control of settlements, complete quests, explore, PVP, or fight off monsters. For example, some of the foods you can cook with the cooking skill will increase your gathering luck and therefore increase the chances to get uncommon or rare items such as Fae Iron or Petrified Wood. Some of these require you to make butter with cooking. We’ll show you how in this guide.

To get Butter in New World, you will first need some Milk. Provision Crates will likely be the easiest method to gather a lot of milk. These crates spawn all over the map, and while some ingredients are only located in certain areas, milk can be found anywhere there’s a Provision Crate!

You can also milk a cow to get milk in New World. For example, Sherry is a cow in the First Light Settlement. You can walk up to her in town and use the interact key to extract milk. You will be able to get around 20 out of one milking, and then it goes on cooldown for 1 hour. You will be able to collect more in 60 minutes.

Once you get milk, head to a Tier 2+ Kitchen. When you’ve got here, look for butter and craft it. You will need 2x milk, and you will receive 1x butter for your troubles. Make sure your Cooking level is up to 5, or you won’t be able to craft it.
