Using a skinning knife and a dead animal will be all that is needed for skinning animals.  Not only can you use a dead animal that someone else has killed, but you should also be courteous and refrain from stealing a bounty that has just been killed.  Food will be rewarded for harvesting livestock, among other things.  Pork and poultry are examples of tier-one meats; red meat and venison are examples of higher-tier meats.  It is possible to obtain fish meat by salvaging fish caught while fishing.

The crafting system in new world coins allows players to create items at their own pace, using resources gathered through the use of gathering skills as they explore and complete quests in the game's world.  In the New World, a player's extensive set of trade skills can be used to create anything from weapons and armor to furniture and tools, among other things.

In the New World, cooking is considered to be one of the most important trade skills to learn.  In addition to providing players with the most important items for healing, allowing them to take advantage of long-lasting buffs, and even improving your town's reputation, cooking various foods from rations to meals will also improve your town's reputation.  When your kitchen is empty and your shelves are bare, you can't cook.  If you want to begin creating recipes, you'll need the right ingredients on hand to do so.  When you're traveling the world, there are three main ways to obtain ingredients: by killing and skinning animals, harvesting herbs and bushes, and purchasing fruits and vegetables from farmers' markets.

The gathering skill can be used to obtain the remainder of the ingredients required to craft recipes. . In the wild, you can find things like nuts, berries, and herbs.  Larger items such as fruits and vegetables can be found throughout the world in various farming landmarks, but you will most likely have to fight off hostile NPCs in order to get a chance to collect them.  Cows in settlements can be milked for their milk.  At long last, you can find ingredients in provision crates, which can be found at various locations around the world.  Cooking can buy new world coins as soon as you have a backpack or storage shed stuffed with ingredients.

To begin cooking, proceed to any cooking station in any settlement.  To save inventory space, you can store your ingredients in a storage shed while you cook.  However, you must cook in the same settlement as the storage shed that you've been using to store your ingredients.

You should be able to craft all four types of basic recovery food after completing the first few tutorials after creating a character.  After completing the first few tutorials after creating a character, you should have a couple levels of the cooking skill.  In order to regain health, the Light and Travel Rations must be consumed; however, in order to regain mana, the Energizing rations must also be consumed.  Of the two sets of rations, the Travel Ration is the better of the two.  It is not only more beneficial to the person who consumes them, but it also rewards you with more cooking points and experience when you craft them as well.  Both Travel Rations require a single tier-two raw food, such as red meat, and one raw food from any tier, and both provide 24 cooking points at the start of the process.

The ability to craft cooking components such as flour, butter, and cheese will be unlocked after achieving Cooking Level 5.  Although it's tempting to start cooking right away, you should hold off until you unlock some trade skill food recipes when you reach level 20.  They award significantly more points and, when consumed, can assist you in getting the most out of your other gathering abilities.

To unlock atrribute foods, you'll need to keep leveling up until you reach 40.  Long-lasting buffs to your various attributes are provided by these foods.  You'll unlock food for each attribute as your cooking level increases, and you'll be able to categorize each recipe by its attribute.
